Jeet Kune Do. The very name conjures images of the late Bruce Lee destroying opponents on the movie screen. But what exactly is Jeet Kune Do? Is it simply Bruce Lee's personal expression in combat? Is it a style? Is it a process? Is it a product? Can it be taught? Can it be learned?

While Bruce Lee felt there should be no such thing as a "fixed" system or method of fighting, he did believe there is definitely a progressive approach to training. In his notes, Lee wrote that jeet kune do "is both a science and an art. Knowledge of the art is the science. Doing the art is the art."

Packed with over 650 photographs, and for the first time anywhere, this book presents the ins-and-outs of Bruce Lee's fighting art. Within the pages of this volume, one can discover the underlying principle, concepts, and strategies that make JKD so combat effective. It presents not just an exhaustive collection of technique photographs, but informs the reader how to put together a training and fighting progression. In essence, how to tailor the art to your own personal needs. Each JKD practitioner is different, and each expresses the art in a slightly different way. But each is JKD. So dive right in and discover your own JKD approach to combat and in the process you will learn more about yourself.

5 out of 5 - February 22, 2003

I have been practising JKD for about two years. I have trained with Chris Kent at seminars and he really knows his stuff when it comes to jeet kune do and that really comes out in this book.

Now for a beginner to JKD this would be a perfect book it starts of with the fighting stance and gradually moves onto basic punches, kicks, and footwork.

Its got Trapping techniques,Grappling techniques and my personal favourite attack by drawing (and no you dont need a sketchpad and pencil).

This book has something for eveyone whether your just interested in JKD or a student of JKD. This would also good for more advanced students just wanting to keep up with the basics.

I have read a lot of books on JKD and would highly recomend this one.
