Way of Quan -
Tao of Martial Art
We assert that there is a core essence of movement and style that
everyone already has ready within them. Everybody already knows
all of the moves. Just as a baby naturally has the ability to walk
already contained within its potential, so all of the knowledge
of how to use martial arts is contained within each and every person.
All of the movements that anyone ever learned to do already existed
as a possibility within their body before they learned them - they
were already part of the host of movements that their bodies were
potentially capable of performing...

Reputations and
Expectations
*Reputations* in martial arts are a game of mythology. There is
really only one way to know how good someone is at martial arts
- seeing is believing. And by this we do not mean seeing someone
have a light spar, or training forms or one steps - we mean actually
having a fight, a real fight, with someone who wants to beat them
up (or at the very least a tournament bout.) Until that happens,
you can't ever really be sure that any person, master or otherwise...

Martial
Arts Training: More Than Just Self-Defense
According to the FBI, four women die everyday as a result of domestic
violence and about 130,000 women report that they've been victims
of rape or attempted rape annually. Because of statistics like this,

Have
You Ever Thought About The Difference Between a Fighter, a Soldier,
and a Warrior?
One of the most common questions that I hear, from friends, family,
and strangers alike, when discussing my involvement in the martial
arts, is..."Why do you want to learn to be violent?" Ironically,
these same well-intentioned people usually didn't ask the same question
when I was a police officer...

Non-Combative Self-Defense
At first glance, it would seem that the only logical approach to
successfully defending yourself against a dangerous attacker is
to learn and get really good at karate or some other form of physical
self-defense. After all, when you look around at what's being offered...

Self-Defense,
Safety, and The 6 Keys to Effectiveness
When most people think of self-defense, what usually comes to mind
is protecting oneself from the physical onslaught from a criminal

only a small part of being able to be safe and free from harm...

True
Martial Arts and the Job of a Warrior
The martial arts and the concept of self-protection is much more
than mere punching and kicking, or the development of skill with
a weapon. Just as a martial artist or, in the grander sense, a warrior-protector,
in engaged in much more than the mere study of violence and violent
methods...
