Armor Plated - Encyclopedia of Defensive Skills For NHB and the Street With Mark Hatmaker DVD Review
If you have read other reviews I've written about Mark Hatmaker, you know that I like him and the way he instructs. He has put out quite a number of dvds with Paladin Press and I have found them to be extremely instructional. That is a very high compliment, because many DVDs out there don't really instruct, they demonstrate only. When I make DVDs, I always make sure that I am teaching in them, and I want people to be able to learn from them. When I watch DVDs, I want them to teach so people can learn from them. Hatmaker's DVDs through Paladin do an exceptional job at teaching...

Fighting Dirty With Loren W Christensen - DVD Review
Real fights don't have rules. Real fights don't have referees to stop the battle when one person gets the upper hand. Real fights are not something you want to lose, when losing means you are seriously hurt or dead. Real fights, if you can't avoid them, are times when you must put your attacker down as hard and fast as you can. You don't fight fair, you do what you must to go home safe. That's where this DVD comes in...

Secrets of Pankration DVD Review
I've been familiar with Jim Arvanitis for years. It's been easy to recognize him with his wild hair style over the years when I'd see him in various martial art magazines. However, even with this familiarity, I did not know much about what he taught in his art of Modern Pankration. Now that I have watched the Paladin Press DVD set "Secrets of Pankration" I know what Arvanitis teaches and can say that it is a formidable mixed martial art...

Martial Arts DVD Review - Lock On 3 Shoulder and Joint Locking Techniques by Alain Buresse
As I sat down to review this DVD in the Lock On series, I found that I was going to have a difficult time writing this review as the basics of this DVD are exactly the same as the previous two volumes, which in and of itself is a fantastic thing. Therefore a lot of my review is going to be a partial repeat of my previous two reviews on volumes one and two in the Lock On series...

Martial Arts DVD Review - Joint Locking Essentials, Vol. 2 Arm Bars & Elbow Locks by Alain Burrese
One of the first things that jumped out at me from the onset when I started watching Alain’s “Lock On” series of DVD’s was the simple yet effective approach that he took in the production and presentation of this series of DVD’s. My initial impression was one of being in an actual seminar environment while Alain was teaching instead of merely watching an instructional DVD. You won’t find any pointless or ineffective “bells and whistles” with this series; instead what you will find is good quality instruction covering a wide array of joint locking techniques. This particular DVD focuses on arm bars and elbow locking techniques...
